Bluegrass Biodesign
Who we are
Bluegrass Biodesign is an accelerated 9-month biomedical program that provides resources, mentorship, and training for medical students to tackle real-world healthcare problems. We see tremendous potential in the parallel usage of students from multiple disciplines in developing new knowledge of biomedical innovation that drives human health. Established in 2021, this new program is establishing an incubator for medical devices with the Speed School of Engineering and School of Medicine. This program is modeled on the Stanford Biodesign™ curriculum:
What we do
We integrate disciplines from medical and engineering students to work together to identify an unmet clinical need/challenge and devise a solution. Bluegrass Biodesign incorporates 2 components: a curriculum designed to standardize knowledge in medical entrepreneurship and the development of a proof of concept for an original medical device design.
