U of L cardiologists, in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute, have published a review outlining the history of the cardiovascular ICU and the opportunity to build on this model of healthcare delivery. In this manuscript, Dr. Loughran and others describe the CICU as an early example of interprofessional, team-based care delivery and a good platform for clinical trials.
