Altar Display - Department of Classical & Modern Languages

Since 2001, the Department of Classical and Modern Languages has organized a Day of the Dead Altar display. Students in the Spanish classes set up the altar as part of their immersion into Latin American culture.

First altar built @ UofL by Spanish 403 students on 2001 to honor the lives of 9/11 victims.

This year the display will exhibit altars from students in the following classes:

  • Span 123, Prof. Thomas Edison. Altar dedicated to Betty White.
  • Span 123, Prof. Thomas Edison. Altar dedicated to Queen Elizabeth.
  • Span 202, 305, 325, 670, Prof. Timothy Ashe. Altar dedicated to TBA.
  • LALS 310, Prof. Trish Gray. Altar dedicated to Brazilian person.
  • LALS 310, Prof. Trish Gray. Altar dedicated to Arlene Brannon
  • CML - Spanish Section: Altar Dedicated to Berta Schupbach
