Desktop, Laptop and Tablet Support

Desktop, Laptop and Tablet Support

Our ITS Desktop Support team provides, for departments with a Service Agreement (SA), full technology lifecycle support on all university owned computers, laptops and tablets – from an initial quote on the acquisition of a device or desktop through any full system replacement. Please contact us about a one-year service agreement or a consultation on your different options for technology support. Our Desktop Support team follows the current ITS recommendations on university workstations.

Units and departments not under contract with the Desktop Support team can request services at an hourly rate by providing a university speedtype. For questions about these services, please call 502-852-4318. Contact our Desktop Support team for any of the following services.

We can advise on technology purchases or provide technical advice on existing devices or desktops and recommendations for modifications of technology.
Our experts can assist with operating system imaging and deployment solutions. This team is able to quickly configure devices to the standards set by our security teams and UofL Policy.
With coverage, we’re happy to help with hardware issues, make sure that your desktop or device is up-to-date on your virus protection, and handle all warranty repair work needed.
Our team can assist with your Shared Directory, departmental shared folder or workspaces that are housed on ITS servers. We’re happy to set up these options or provide direction on the best options for sharing files with colleagues. Upon request, we can grant or modify access to a department shared folder.
Let us navigate the purchase of your next system or computing device. We work with approved vendors and can gather bid options based on your needs.
The installation and configuration of standard software, whether part of our Microsoft Office365 products, Adobe offerings or a user-specified product, is included in our support plans.
With Bomgar, a screen sharing tool, our ITS technicians can remotely connect to your computer or system to help immediately from another location. If instructed, start a Bomgar session to allow this support solution to begin.
We follow UofL's policy on the Inventory, Tracking and Disposal of Computing Devices on all "redeployed, transferred, sent to surplus, discarded, removed from service or that changes service" and utilize industry best practices for the eradication of sensitive data.
