How do you use AI? Where should you begin?

Some users might use AI or GenAI tools all the time and not realize it. Asking questions to Siri, brainstorming ideas in a search tool, or getting feedback on homework with an app? It’s possible to have only tried something once or not at all - there’s no right or wrong answer. In ITS, we’re simply curious about how we move forward with AI and GenAI together.

New to AI/Gen AI

You’re just starting your journey with Gen AI. You have only tested basic prompts in free chat tools or image generators a few times and are still exploring options. We recommend starting with Anthropic’s AI Fluency course or AI Fluency for Students

Anthropic’s AI Fluency

Everyday User

You’ve used multiple AI tools and GenAI platforms across different tasks—text, image or voice. You understand their strengths and limitations but can navigate the interfaces with ease. We recommend expanding your MS365 Copilot options.

For the everyday user, AI is no longer just a search tool. It has evolved into a comprehensive ‘Executive Assistant’. Whether using Gemini or the paid tier of Microsoft Copilot, these users prioritize seamless integration and proactive organization. In this archetype, AI handles the "friction" of daily life by managing schedules and making communication more effective.

Microsoft 365 Copilot

Copilot (paid) functions as a high-level administrative executive assistant. For these users, the value is productivity. It does best at  inbox triage, ranking unread emails and drafting replies, and meeting intelligence. In platforms like Microsoft Teams, Copilot catches you up  on meetings and summarizes discussions, so the user never falls behind. It helps you turn a rough outline into a PowerPoint or use natural language to analyze a spreadsheet in Excel.

AI Architect

You combine GenAI with coding or use agentic automation tools. You’re comfortable using API’s, custom models or integrating AI into production workflows and complex projects. We recommend checking out Google’s Gemini and Agentspace.

The AI Architect encompasses anyone responsible for technical spectrum using AI/GenAI, including product managers, designers, enterprise strategists and computer science engineers. These users don't just use AI to get tasks done, but they use it to build frameworks and define parameters. For this group, Claude has emerged as the preferred tool because it prioritizes high level reasoning over simple autocomplete like other resources.

Learning Google

Maximize the potential of your professional toolkit with Google’s specialized training and resources. By mastering Gemini, NotebookLM and Agentspace, you can streamline your AI operations and unlock more efficient ways to use agents.

Claude (Anthropic)

A favorite among the tech world, this model is widely regarded for its exceptional coding abilities and nuanced, human-like writing. It features a massive context window for analyzing long documents and avoids the robotic tone often found in other AI tools.
