Leadership Development

Health equity is fundamental to ensuring student success, workforce well-being, and to addressing healthcare access gaps and disease disparities. At UofL, when students and employees face health barriers, their ability to thrive academically and professionally is compromised. For these reasons, health equity continues to be a focus of all health professions programs.

Leadership development in regard to health equity, helps to prepare individuals to build knowledge of health inequities and health disparities, to use inclusive leadership skills in our institutional environments, improve data literacy, and utilize collaborative approaches. Members of our office sit on numerous committees across the HSC and UofL and we regularly collaborate with student, faculty and staff leaders across roles on projects, initiatives and in addressing challenges. Within these spaces, we offer leaders:

  • Strategies on connecting programs and individuals to institutional and community resources.
  • Problem solving ideas to address inequities, in alignment with institutional goals.
  • Ways to analyze data that might allow for more informed decision making.
  • Perspectives on improving campus climate and belonging.
