Summary of Research Interests
Functional genomics of the successful aging process is the major theme in Dr. Wang's laboratory. Using DNA chip technology coupled with a unique aging population composed mainly of centenarians paves the way to identify genes that determine the successful aging process. Discovery of signature genetic markers for those who live till their 100's will provide leads to develop enabling technology in diagnosis, prognosis, and ultimately therapeutic treatment for those who suffer age-dependent diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disorders, Alzheimer's disease, type II diabetes, osteoporosis, etc.
