Writer Center Introduction Video Script

Welcome to the University Writing Center at the University of Louisville. We are committed to working with you to help you become a stronger writer and to support writing across the university. We work with writers from all disciplines and departments, and all members of the UofL community from undergraduate and graduate students, to faculty, and staff.

You’ll find we can help you at any point in your writing process. Maybe you want to brainstorm about how to get started, or maybe you have an initial draft you’d like to discuss, or you need strategies for final editing and proofreading a paper. Make an appointment and one of our consultants will talk with your about your project, respond to your draft, and address  concerns you have about your writing.

At the University Writing Center we’re not limited to academic writing, however. You’re also welcome to bring in personal, professional, or creative writing. If it’s writing and you’re a part of the UofL community, we want to work with you to make it as effective and engaging as possible.

To make appointment or find our hours for this semester, see our website or call us.

We’re located on the first floor of Ekstrom Library and, if you are on the Health Sciences Campus, our office is in the Instructional Building, room 120.

In addition to individual appointments, we also support writing through writing groups for faculty, graduate students, and creative writers. We hold writing-related events throughout the year, including open mic nights and readings.

And don’t forget our online resources that can help you as a writer. Check out our website for  Writing FAQs, video workshops, and handouts with writing advice. Faculty can find resources for teaching writing and advice for how to help their students make the most of a writing center visit.

If you can’t make it to campus, we have an online, virtual writing center that includes an option for live chat sessions with our consultants.

Try us and we think you’ll want to come again. To learn more about what we do and how to make an appointment, give us a call or explore our website for information and writing advice.

We hope to see you soon.
