Graduate Student Writing Support
Mug Club
Need some accountability, a zen space, and some caffeine to get writing done? Consider joining the University Writing Center’s Mug Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11am in Ekstrom 132. All dissertation and thesis writers are welcome: just bring a reusable mug to hang on our mug tree, and we’ll keep a log of your focused writing time so you and we can celebrate your achievement at the end of the semester. The group will be hosted by Associate Director Annmarie Steffes who will offer writing motivation, help you set daily writing goals, and troubleshoot writing problems. Join any time for coffee, tea, and occasional snacks: no commitment necessary.
Fall 2025
Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:00-11:00 AM
Graduate Student Fellows Program
The Graduate Fellows program is for graduate students completing a journal article, thesis, or dissertation to receive individualized writing support and consistent feedback on their scholarship. Participants will be partnered with one of the Writing Center’s Assistant Directors who are advanced PhD students and meet at regular intervals (either weekly, every other week, or monthly) to make progress toward a writing goal. The benefit of the fellows program is that graduate students will have a semester-long mentor who is familiar with their larger project and can offer more tailored advice.
