Making an Appointment Script

Welcome to the University of Louisville Writing Center. You can use our online scheduling system to make an appointment. Begin by visiting the Writing Center website and clicking on "Appointments." If it's your first time enter your Ulink username and password and fill out all fields in the following page after entering your email address and password on the login page.

Once you’ve registered the first time, you will simply use your U of L user name and password to log into the system.

Choose a schedule based on whether you plan to use the University Writing Center in Ekstrom library, writing center on the Health Sciences campus, or our Virtual Writing Center.

Our Virtual Writing Center has tutors available for distance students and on campus students unable to visit the Writing Center in-person. See our Virtual Writing Center video for details about online appointments.

Once in the schedule, you can see the entire semester’s availability one week at a time.

Hovering over the yellow help link will display the color-coded legend, which explains that white boxes are available time slots and blue or black boxes are unavailable. Green boxes are the appointments you’ve already scheduled. If you'd like to make appointments later in the semester, click “next week” near the top of the page.

Once you decide date and time, click the white box. Fill in all fields marked by a red asterisk. Please provide as much detail as possible about your writing concerns and the nature of the assignment. The more you tell us on the form, the better able we are to help you when you arrive for your appointment. When you have filled out the form, select “Save Appointment.”

You may schedule multiple appointments at one time, up to three appointments per week.

If you can't find an appointment when you want one because they're all booked, join the waiting list for that day by clicking the white clock icon next to the date. From the screen you can choose a specific consultant and times, if necessary.

You can also choose to receive a text message instead in an email.

Please note that the waiting list is simply a notification system that an appointment slot has opened. It doesn't automatically add you to an appointment slot. Those slots are given on a first come, first served basis.

Finally, if you decide you no longer want your appointment or can't make it, you can click on your scheduled appointment, scroll down and select “cancel this appointment.”

If you have trouble at any point during this process, please call us at 502-852-2173.
