Auerbach Lecture Series
The Minx Auerbach Lecture Series in Women’s and Gender Studies was established with a generous donation by Sy Auerbach in honor of his wife. Minx Auerbach (1922-2006) was a civic leader who served on the boards of the Louisville Science Center and the Olmstead Conservancy, was chair of the Louisville and Jefferson County Planning Commission, and was the first woman to chair the University of Louisville Board of Trustees. Since 1998, Sy Auerbach’s gift has made it possible for the Department of Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies to bring well-known scholars, activists, artists, and journalists to Louisville for the annual lecture.
