That is one of the core principles of who we are as University of Louisville. 

Like loving families, we are there for one another in times of happiness and sorrow, triumphs and troubles. So when you need help, we want you to know about SHARE, the Staff Help Assistance Relief Effort Program.  

SHARE Emergency Fund – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to learn more about the program.

When you experience temporary financial hardship due to an emergency, eligible employees may receive assistance from SHARE. Covered emergencies include: medical emergencies, threatened foreclosure or eviction, or loss of property due to natural disaster, housing instability, utility shut-off, family medical crises, or other temporary financial hardships

Note: Routine bills, credit card debt, elective procedures, and non-essential services are not eligible.

Eligibility

To apply for SHARE assistance, you must:

  • Be a current full-time or part-time staff
  • Have completed at least six (6) months of continuous employment
  • Be experiencing a documented, unforeseen financial emergency
  • Have not received funds from SHARE/Employee Emergency Fund in the past year


Application Process

The process to apply is kept completely confidential and the steps are provided below.

  • Complete the SHARE Emergency Fund form. Attach any required documentation to verify the emergency.
  • Your application will be reviewed confidentially by HR and redacted information will be communicated with the Staff Senate SHARE Committee for approval.
  • You will be notified of the outcome within 7 business days.
  • If approved, funds will be distributed via direct deposit.

 

Donate to the SHARE Emergency Fund

SHARE funds originate from employee contributions, donations, and various fund-raising campaigns organized by the Staff Senate SHARE Committee and HR.

Help support colleagues in times of need. Contributions are always welcome and go directly to eligible staff in crises.

Ways to donate: 

  • Complete  the SHARE Donation Form to donate
  • Payroll Deduction - To make a contribution to the SHARE Program by payroll deduction, send an email to the UofL Payroll Service Account. Once the contribution has been entered into the payroll system, the donation will appear on the employee’s payment stub.
  • Personal checks made payable to University of Louisville (SHARE in memo) 
  • Cash donations 
  • Fundraising events
