Before engaging in international travel, please complete the Provost’s “Out of Country Travel Procedures.” It is also important to keep in mind that, when you leave the United States, you have responsibilities under international trade and export control law. Most international travel will not require a license. However, travel to certain destinations with certain items may require a license from the U.S. government. Additionally, many countries ban or severely regulate the import of certain items, such as encryption products.
U.S. export control regulations require that presentations and discussions be limited to topics that are not related to controlled commodities, software, or technology unless that information is already published or otherwise already in the public domain. The following steps will help you prepare for an international trip.
