Anna playing pianoThe Inaugural Piano Festival and Elizabeth Huang Piano Competition will be held Nov. 9 and 10 at University of Louisville School of Music. This two-day piano event features masterclasses, individual lessons, a piano competition, seminars, lectures, a faculty recital and performance opportunities for students.

FESTIVAL

The Piano Festival will present masterclasses and individual lessons by faculty members. All masterclasses are open to the public. The festival and masterclasses are open to all piano students (pre-collegiate and collegiate level)

Registration fee $75 if registered before October 1, 2024 

$100 after October 1, 2024

 

THE ELIZABETH HUANG PIANO COMPETITION

The competition is open to pianists aged 14-18, who are not currently enrolled in college. Application deadline, including pre-selection video, is Oct. 1.
Notification of acceptance will be made by Oct. 8.
Pre-selection video can be sent with the application via unlisted YouTube link or Vimeo.

Cost:
$75 application fee
*Students are required to register for the piano festival in order to participate in the competition.


Prizes:
First Prize: $2,000
Second Prize: $1,000
Third Prize: $500


Live round repertoire: 

10-15 minutes of music from at least two different styles from the following: 

  • Baroque 
  • Classical 
  • Romantic 
  • 20th and 21st Century 

*Prepared piano works and unpublished pieces are NOT allowed. With the exception of the 20th/21st Century pieces all works must be memorized 

 

Daily Schedule 

Saturday, November 9

7:30 am - 9 am: Registration

9 am - 1 pm: The Elizabeth Huang Piano Competition (depending on number of participants) 

9 am - 5 pm: Masterclasses, individual lessons, seminars, panel discussions, and more

7 pm: Faculty Recital 

Sunday, November 10

11 am - 5 pm: Masterclasses, individual lessons, seminars, panel discussions, and a final student recital
