Welcome!

The Health Sciences Center Office of Health Equity and Engagement at the University of Louisville welcomes and embraces our community of students, residents, fellows, faculty, and staff. We seek to encourage and foster all our constituent's growth and development to allow everyone to be successful on our campus. By augmenting a culture and climate that demonstrates its belief that all add value to intellectual development, academic enrichment, patient care, research, and community engagement, we believe our campus will be at the forefront of opportunity and innovation.

What is Health Equity?

Health equity is the state in which everyone has a fair and just opportunity to attain their highest level of health. - Centers for Disease Control

The HSC Office of Health Equity and Engagement is deeply committed to enhancing opportunity for our healthcare workforce. This commitment is reflected in our strategic initiatives aimed at not only recruiting a broad spectrum of talent but also ensuring the retention and advancement of all individuals within the organization. By focusing on comprehensive practices, the Health Sciences Center Office of Health Equity and Engagement actively supports its schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health & Information Sciences in creating an environment where varied perspectives and backgrounds are valued.

The office implements targeted outreach programs, mentorship opportunities, and professional development resources designed specifically to foster a welcoming atmosphere for all groups in the healthcare field. This holistic approach ensures that the workforce is equipped to address the health needs of an increasingly diverse population.
