Boone County Jail Immigration Detention Center Visits

Since 2011, Professor Enid Trucios-Haynes, co-founder of the Human Rights Advocacy Program, has led monthly trips to the Boone County Jail Immigration (ICE) Detention Center in northern Kentucky. This legal orientation program is in collaboration with the National Immigrant Justice Center and is supervised by the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR) of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Volunteers meet with detainees to conduct Know Your Rights presentations and individual intake interviews. The trips offer a chance for students and community volunteers to see the immigration system firsthand.

The program welcomes new volunteers. First-time volunteers must attend a training session before their visit.
