Know Your Rights: Boone County Jail Immigration Detention Center Visits

Visits to the Boone County Jail Immigration (ICE) Detention Center

Since 2011, Professor Enid Trucios-Haynes, co-founder of the Human Rights Advocacy Program, has led monthly trips to the Boone County Jail Immigration (ICE) Detention Center in northern Kentucky. This Know Your Rights program is in collaboration with the National Immigrant Justice Center.

Volunteers meet with detainees to conduct Know Your Rights presentations and individual intake interviews. The trips offer a chance for students and community volunteers to see the immigration system firsthand.

The program welcomes new volunteers. First-time volunteers must attend a training session before their visit. The visits begin at 8 a.m. and generally end by 12:30 p.m.
