All of us at the LALS Program are heartbroken over the passing of Connie Lewis on March 22, 2021. Connie and her husband Richard are the generous benefactors of the LALS Program and have provided scholarships for over two hundred UofL students to study abroad in Latin America and Spain as Lewis Scholars and 21 professors to conduct research as Lewis Fellows. She is now with her beloved husband Richard, whom we lost last year on June 13, 2020. The Lewises loved to attend the Annual LALS Spring Showcase and meet the students who studied abroad as Lewis Scholars and read their reports. We will miss both of them. I’m posting the last photo I took of Connie with Jake, the LALS Therapy Dog at Treyton Oak Towers, and one of Connie and Richard at our LALS Spring Showcase a few years ago.
