LGBTQ Applied Health (WGST 391-51)
LGBTQ Applied Health (WGST 391-51) provides an introductory exploration of health and healthcare as it applies to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community. Our goal is to understand the foundations of inclusive healthcare and clinical skills to competently care for LGBTQ+ individuals, in addition to individuals born with differences of sex development (DSD; sometimes called intersex). Themes of this course include Social Determinants of Health, Inclusive Communication Skills, Gender Affirming Care, Trauma-informed Care, Intersectionality and LGBTQ Health, Minority Stress and LGBTQ Mental Health. Satisfies a requirement in the LGBTQ Health Studies Certificate
