The Department of Art and Design endowed as the Hite Institute of Art and Design of the University of Louisville offers the following undergraduate degrees:
in two tracks:
Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in three tracks:
- Studio Art Track [Ceramics, Drawing, Fiber Arts/Mixed Media, Glass, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture]
- Graphic Design Track
- Interior Design Track
The faculty are committed to providing our graduates with technical competence, aesthetic judgment and a strong dedication to artistic quality within the framework of a solid liberal arts background. Academic requirements in the Department of Art and Design for majors range from 40 to 63 hours depending on specific degree requirements. In addition, undergraduate majors also take University-wide General Education requirements and programmatic and supporting courses in the College of Arts & Sciences.
