The Hite is pleased to share that a solo exhibition by Lalana Fedorschak will be on view in the Schneider Hall Covi Gallery from January 9-February 13. Titled "Strange Encounters", Fedorschak’s exhibition of ceramic rabbit sculptures explores the animal’s natural instincts, viewing them as a metaphor of human anxiety.

“Strange Encounters is a reflection on my interactions with rabbits. Rabbits are prey animals that are very sensitive to changes in their environment. They are extremely nervous and overresponsive, exhibiting a ‘freeze and bolt’ response when encountering nearly anything new.” Fedorschak writes in her statement. “Looking closely at rabbits might be about fear. Fear is an instinctive, primal response. It is not always necessary or helpful, but it is a part of the body. Rabbits are small and terrified and vulnerable. I feel tender and protective over them. When I see a scared animal, I see my own scared animal, and I am thinking about them.”

An opening reception will be held on Thursday January 9 from 5-7pm in the Schneider Hall Galleries. Free and open to the public, we hope you will join us!
