ARC well represented at 2023 Digestive Disease Week

Our Alcohol Center was well represented at the 2023 Digestive Disease Week meeting in Chicago (May 6-9, 2023).

Two Members of Alcohol Center gave oral presentations at the AGA research forum: Emerging biomarkers and translational discoveries in liver disease:

  • Dr. Irina Kirpich presented a study focusing on beneficial effects of n-3 PUFA supplementation on liver injury, endotoxemia, and inflammation in heavy drinking individuals.
  • Dr. Josiah Hardesty presented a talk “Non-responsiveness to prednisolone in alcohol-associated hepatitis patients was linked with compromised hepatic proteotoxic stress response and altered glucocorticoid metabolism and signaling."

The study by Dr. Dennis Warner et all. titled "Limosilactobacillus Reuteri engineered to release recombinant n3-fatty acid desaturase alters tissue levels of fatty acids and their metabolites in mice:  implications for alcohol-associated liver disease" received a Poster of Distinction Award.

Dr. Craig McClain discussed "Clinical Manifestation and Diagnosis in ALD," as a part of the AGA Charles S. Liber Lecture – New Frontiers: Alcohol Associated Liver Diseases.
