2026 University of Louisville Critical Updates

The University of Louisville is committed to affordability.

We are dedicated to helping your students and making a UofL education affordable for them. We continue to break down financial barriers to education with $1 million added to the scholarship budget this year.

The following changes to our in-state and out-of-state scholarship programs are for Fall 2027:

  • In-State Scholarships:
    • UofL’s test-optional scholarship policy has been updated to provide better clarity for students and counselors. We have also added a new scholarship tier rewarding students for completing college credit-bearing coursework. As always, our test-optional scholarships require a 3.5 weighted GPA and a designated amount of transferable college credits.
  • Out-of-State Scholarships:
    • UofL’s Border Benefit program now includes the entire state of Tennessee. This allows students from all Border Benefit states to receive a grant that brings their cost to attend UofL down to the equivalent cost of attendance as a Kentucky student.
  • Porter Scholarship:
    • We will offer the Porter Scholarship for Fall 2027. Information about the criteria for the scholarship will be released in early September.

New majors have joined UofL's 200+ academic programs.

Global Supply Chain Management

Preparing students for one of the fastest-growing career fields in the region, this program focuses on logistics, analytics and AI-driven operations. Students will learn how to design, improve and lead the systems that keep business running.

Fine Arts: Interaction Design and Product Design

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) now offers two new tracks: Interaction Design and Product Design, providing new pathways to success for professionally oriented students interested in visual art careers. Focused, selective and hands-on, the tracks develop advanced skills, portfolio-ready work and leadership.

Qualified students will be directly admitted to the BFA program. Eligible, admitted students will be notified in their New Cards Gateway.

UofL has updated AP and IB course credits for Fall 2026.

This includes adding new AP coursework: Personal Finance, Cybersecurity, and Networking. Additionally, AP Seminar will now count as English 101 credit, and AP Research will now count as English 102 credit. As always, UofL awards course credit for any AP exam score of a 3 or above and for any IB exam score of a 5 or above.

Qualified students are directly admitted to competitive undergraduate programs.

Eligible, admitted students will be notified in their New Cards Gateway. Academic programs offering direct admission:

  • Upper-Level Nursing
  • Upper-Level Dental Hygiene
  • Art + Design
    • Graphic Design
    • Interaction Design
    • Interior Design

Student health and well-being is prioritized beyond academics.

Set to open in fall 2028, the Wellness Center unites Campus Health, the Counseling Center and related services to a central location on our main Belknap Campus. This $10 million project fosters real-time collaboration and seamless care coordination between medical and mental health providers.

UofL is investing in health and educating the future.

Scheduled to open in fall 2029, the Health Sciences Building will provide opportunities for learning, research and interprofessional practice, expanding health education and discovery. With an estimated cost of $280 million, the building represents the largest single-project funding package in UofL’s history. The building will be located on the Health Sciences Center campus and used by the following UofL schools:

  • School of Dentistry
  • School of Med
  • School of Nursing
  • School of Public Health

The Speed School of Engineering has updated their GPA requirements.

The J.B. Speed School of Engineering will review a student’s unweighted GPA if they are applying without test scores. All other programs review weighted GPAs.
