INFORMING OUTSIDE PARTIES

Communications and Marketing will coordinate notification of outside parties affected by or strongly interested in the crisis.

However, to preserve close working relationships and achieve maximum efficiency in a crisis, the U of L officials who regularly work with the parties should let them know how and when information will be released to reporters. In many cases, these officials may already be in close contact with the parties.

President John Shumaker or his designee are the only people authorized to bring crises to the attention of the U of L Board of Trustees and U of L Board of Overseers. Similarly, Dan Hall, vice president for university relations and his staff are the only people authorized to notify government officials and political groups.

Here are some examples of how notification of other parties is to be handled:
