[Shelby Campus]

Shelby Campus

Sitting on Shelbyville Road in Jefferson County's East End, the University of Louisville Shelby Campus provides more than 240 parklike acres. The campus houses conference facilities, classrooms for non-credit continuing education courses and for- credit classes and a Telecommunications Research Center for research and development activities that benefit the university and the Louisville business community. Thousands of people use the campus and its acres of green space for recreational activities, meetings and training.

Shelby Campus is the former home of Kentucky Southern College, which folded in 1969. U of L acquired the property that same year. The campus was home to the U of L School of Music until that college moved to Belknap Campus in 1980. It also once served as the residence of the university president.
