Louisville Hall
The university features nine residence halls on the Belknap
Campus. Miller Hall, Threlkeld Hall, Unitas Tower, Center Hall
and the Wellness House have traditional double-occupancy rooms.
Think it will be too loud to study in your dorm room? Several of the
residence halls have floors that feature a 24-hour quiet policy.
Single-occupancy Stevenson Hall has two floors that are set aside as quiet
floors. Louisville Hall, pictured here, offers students suite-style rooms.
Louisville Hall has received awards for its outstanding design. Students
from around the world live in the International House. This setting
provides an opportunity for people from different countries to learn about
various cultures. University Tower Apartments offer living space for
students over 21.
William F. Ekstrom Library
The University of Louisville library system contains more than 1 million
books and periodicals. The William F. Ekstrom Library houses nearly
700,000 of those resources, as well as the main offices of the
University Libraries, University Archives and
Records Center and Photographic Archives. Other libraries available on
Belknap Campus are the Laura Kersey Library of Engineering, Physical
Science and Technology; Margaret Bridwell Art Library; Dwight Anderson
Music Library; and the university's law library.
All of the libraries, including the Kornhauser Library at the Health
Sciences Center campus, are connected by Minerva, the university's
computerized cataloguing system. This system is accessible via student
terminals in most Belknap Campus buildings, as well as from other campuses
and home via the university's mainframe computer system.
Gardiner Hall
Built in 1871, Gardiner Hall is the oldest building on Belknap Campus.
Gardiner Hall was originally built as part of the House of Refuge, a
girls' reform school, during the Civil War era, and has been remodeled
several times throughout the years. Today, it houses the College of Arts and Sciences dean's office and advising
center, as well as the offices of Expressive Therapies, Family Therapies
and the Women's Center.
