The School of Education plays a leading role in
Kentucky's education reform efforts and has prepared thousands of
students for leadership in a variety of settings, from classrooms to
business to social service agencies. The education building houses
classrooms, faculty offices, the School of Education dean's office, a
technology resource center and seven of the school's eight departments.
The education building also is home to the Center for the Collaborative
Advancement of the Teaching Profession, one of five centers of
excellence established by the state and the only one in education.
School of Music
The university's School of Music plays an important
role in the cultural life of Louisville by providing talent for local
groups such as the Louisville Orchestra and the Kentucky Opera
Association. At the University of Louisville, serious music students are
provided the opportunity to study with distinguished faculty. Students are
given the opportunity to enhance their skills by
participating in activities including university bands, chamber music
groups, choirs and an orchestra. The School of Music has two recital
halls; the largest has seating for about 500 people. The school also
houses the Dwight Anderson Music Library,
home of one of the best
collections of contemporary music world-wide.
College of Business and Public Administration
Designed with input from university students, the College of Business and Public
Administration building features classrooms that facilitate
greater student participation and a student computer center. The
College of Business and Public Administration offers degrees in
accounting, finance, computer information systems, management and
marketing. It also offers a program in equine administration. The college
offers students the opportunity to enhance their skills through co-op and
mentoring programs, among others. Eight student organizations provide
business students an opportunity to network and receive valuable
employment information.
