About the Residency Program

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health at the University of Louisville is a four-year integrated training program in obstetrics and gynecology meeting the requirements of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology for specialty certification. The program is progressive and accepts six residents at each of the four years. Combined with the well rounded clinical exposure and the availability of a strong basic science division, the resident gains excellent preparation for either private practice or academic medicine. The philosophy underlying this program provides for the flexibility required to foster individualized resident learning.

Every eight weeks one PGY-2 and one PGY-3 resident participates in a five morning per week endoscopic surgery course using fresh cadavers. It is the only course of its kind devoted to resident education. A complimentary endoscopic program provides the residents with advanced skills using a pelvic trainer.
