Community Engagement

Care for others:

A key aspect of being a child neurologist is being an advocate for those that we serve.  Our goal is to create opportunities for you to learn and grow in this, while eventually being champions of service in the future.

Community engagement projects at U of L Child Neurology include:

  • Outreach clinics at the Office for Children with Special Health Care Needs (OCSHCN) - This is a free state sponsored clinic that provides social work and interpreter services.
  • Annual Brain Day at the Kentucky Science Center!
  • Epilepsy Foundation activities including the annual Epilepsy Walk
  • MDA activities including Walk and Roll event
  • Engagement at the autism center
  • Exposure in Pediatrics through PUSH (Pediatrics Urging Safety and Health)
  • Partnering with the Kentucky Special Olympics
  • Gold Humanism Honor Society activities (Dr. Barton serves as faculty mentor at the Medical School)
  • Neurology on the Hill through American Academy of Neurology
  • Kentucky Pediatrics on the Hill Event
