Atopic dermatitis (AD), also called eczema, is a chronic, relapsing inflammatory skin disease that is associated with significant morbidity and costs to patients and their families. Clinicians need to remain up-to-date on the benefits and risks of all treatment options as well as make the appropriate selections for their patients. New and emerging developments in the pathogenesis of AD are evolving; therefore clinicians need to stay informed.
