A postdoctoral position in a Biochemistry/Cell Biology Laboratory is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Alexey Arkov, Department of Biological Sciences, Murray State University (http://www.murraystate.edu/arkovlab/). The selected candidate for this position will be supported by a CAREER grant from the National Science Foundation and will be immediately involved in a collaborative project with a group from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine to carry out structural and functional analysis of evolutionarily conserved components of large ribonucleoprotein complexes from gerline stem cells in the fruit fly, Drosophila. In addition, proteomics and genetic approaches will be employed to study the molecular mechanism of germline stem cell development. Experience in protein expression in eukarvotic cells and protein purification is desirable but not required. Murray State University if located in western Kentucky, about 120 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.
