PUBLIC HEALTH PREPAREDNESS COURSES OVERVIEW
The online courses listed on this page are designed to help prepare healthcare providers to respond effectively to emergency situations including terrorism, biowarfare and pandemic outbreak. Each online course takes approximately one and a half hours to complete, and continuing education credit is available upon the successful completion of each course. For more information, consult the above table of contents, or simply scroll down the page.

These courses were created by the University of Louisville Center for Health Hazards Preparedness, the University of Louisville School of Public Health and Information Sciences, and the University of Louisville Continuing Health Sciences Education office.

COURSE INSTRUCTIONS & REGISTRATION
By taking one of our online courses, you will gain valuable knowledge and earn continuing education credit without ever leaving your home or office. Each course is free, but registration is required. You can register for the course, complete the course, take a short test and be awarded your printable electronic certificate all in one session.

If you don't have time to take the course in one session, you may return to it as many times as you like without registering again. Each course takes approximately one and a half hours. During the course you will watch and listen to a lecture and view a handout. After reviewing the materials, you will take an online test and receive your results instantly.

If you pass, you will be taken to a web page confirming your continuing education credit, which you will need to print for your records. If you do not pass, you may retake the course as many times as necessary without registering again.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT
Physician Credit -
University of Louisville Continuing Health Sciences Education designates each of these courses for a maximum of 1.5 hours of Category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity. The University of Louisville School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Nursing Credit - Each of these courses has been approved by the Kentucky Board of Nursing for 1.8 contact hours per course through the University of Louisville School of Nursing. The Kentucky Board of Nursing approval of an individual nursing education provider does not constitute endorsement of program content. Participants must complete entire session, provide license and social security number and complete evaluation to receive contact hours.

After the Anthrax attacks that occurred in the wake of 9/11, the University of Louisville quickly developed a series of online courses designed to educate healthcare professionals about the proper response in case of a bioterror attack. These eight courses are available below. They are offered strictly for informational purposes; no continuing education credit is available.
