PURPOSE AND TARGET AUDIENCE
The aim of this course is to understand why, what, and how information infrastructure is needed to protect population health. The course looks at the current detection system and examines what is needed in a detection system, as well as, biodefense information infrastructure requirements.

In the exploration of what information infrastructure is needed to protect population's health the National Health Information Infrastructure (NHII) is discussed and examined on its vision, elements, and requirements. The final element to this course discusses the path of how to build health information infrastructure in a community. This course is designed for all healthcare professionals.


CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT
Physician Credit - University of Louisville Continuing Health Sciences Education designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.5 hours of Category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Nursing Credit - This program has been approved by the Kentucky Board of Nursing for 1.8 contact hours through the University of Louisville School of Nursing, provider number 3-0046-01-2013-06, expiration date January 31, 2013. The Kentucky Board of Nursing approval of an individual nursing education provider does not constitute endorsement of program content.
