Course Description and Target Audience
The Louisville Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience will host a special all-day event, Neuroscience Day, to be held on May 6, 2010. Neuroscientists, faculty, residents, postdocs, students and staff will present posters, discuss their research programs, and attend to lectures given by internationally-renowned neuroscientists.

The 20th Annual Neuroscience Day theme will be Translational Research and will feature as a key speaker Prof. Warren Olanov. Our visiting speaker will also meet informally with residents, students and graduate students.  University of Louisville internationally recognized neuroscientists: Drs. Wang, Hagg and Sephton, will be the afternoon lecturers. Participants in Neuroscience Day will be able to receive for the first time CME credits for their attendance.

Neuroscience Day attracts trainees and faculty from diverse departments within the University of Louisville and from several other Universities in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. In addition to learning, it fosters collaborations between investigators.

This course is designed for neurologists, physicians, physician assistants and other health professionals serving in the neurology practice setting.

You may still attend by registering in person at the registration desk starting at 8:30 AM on Thursday, May 6 at the symposium site, the Clinical & Translational Research Bldg, University of Louisville Health Sciences Center, Louisville, KY 40202.


Parking
Attendees may park at meters on the street near the UofL Health Sciences Center, which is located at 500 S. Preston St. There is also pay parking available in Jewish Hospital parking garage and the University Hospital parking garage. Jewish Hospital is located at 200 Abraham Flexner Way and University Hospital at 530 S. Jackson Street.

Learning Objectives:
1) Assess prions as a cause of Parkinson’s Disease.
2) Explain the potential neuroprotective agents for Parkinson’s Disease.
3) Identify epigenomic controls of aging.
4) Evaluate why targeting vasculature may lead to neuroprotection.
5) Diagnose and treat behavioral factors that influence cancer progression.
