Jean Frazier Lecture Series
The Jean Frazier Lecture Series aims to increase awareness of the causes and effects of Polypharmacy. If Polypharmacy were a disease it would rank in the top six of causes of death. Thanks to Mrs. Frazier, the University of Louisville Department of Family & Geriatric Medicine has implemented a special program called, “The Polypharmacy Initiative”. This is the result of her inspiration and continuing financial support.  It is unique in that it is entirely dedicated to education, research, and outreach to combat the problem of Polypharmacy. Through this initiative, prescribers, patients, medical societies, hospitals and related organizations have been educated regarding Polypharmacy as a major public health problem. A significant component of this Initiative includes a lecture series which attracts experts in the field from all over the world to discuss the problem and share methods to combat Polypharmacy.

The 10th Annual Irving B. Perlstein Gerontology Lectureship

Dr. Irving B. Perlstein completed his internship and residency at Jewish Hospital and was a respected member of the Medical Staff at Jewish Hospital during his long and rewarding career. Specializing in Internal Medicine, he was recognized for his significant research on aging and thyroid dysfunction. This lectureship was created by his family as a living memorial to him and his commitment to his patients and healthcare.
