Course Description and Target Audience
Edward C Halperin, Dean School of Medicine

The Flexner Report on Medical Education in the United States and Canada was published in June 1910. In 2010, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of this landmark report, leaders of academic medicine and scholars will gather in Louisville to review the crucial findings of the reports, the implication of the report for medical education, and how the future of medical education will be shaped by the legacy of the report. This course will address the biography of Abraham Flexner, his philosophy of medical education, his methodology for studying medical education, the essential findings of his report, the impact of the report upon medicine, and the future of medical education.

The target audience is health professionals from these specialties: Physicians, Nurses, Research Scientists, Students, Residents, Faculty, and Staff along with any others interested in the topic presented.
