Course Description and Target Audience
Newer approaches to treatment of mood and anxiety disorders offer hope for improving the outcome of these common illnesses. This conference brings together leading experts in some of most promising treatment developments to help attendees build their knowledge and skills in managing depression, bipolar disorder, and related conditions.  Drawing from research breakthroughs in biologically and psychosocially-based treatments, presenters offer both practical solutions for enhancing treatment responses today and insights on how treatment may evolve in the future.

Target Audience
Public Presentation - October 14, 2010
Persons who suffer from mood disorders and related conditions, family members, mental health advocates, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other mental health clinicians. Three hundred participants are expected.

Professional Conference - October 15, 2010
Psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, other mental health clinicians, and primary care
practitioners. Two hundred and fifty participants are expected.

2. Describe the theoretical rationale and key methods of interpersonal and social rhythms therapy

3. Detail effective approaches for the combined management of depression, inflammation, and adiposity

4. Identify potential applications of computer technology for enhancing psychiatric treatment

5. Describe advances in using transcranial magnetic stimulation and deep brain stimulation in the treatment of mental disorders

6. Practice mindfulness meditation techniques that may help prevent recurrence of depression

7. Describe key methods of identifying and treating bipolar disorder in children

8. Detail core CBT methods for treatment of panic disorder

9. Implement basic principles of CBT for insomnia
