Directs the CHSE Program. Dr. Cogan is responsible for the annual budget, activity development, personnel functions, needs assessment, policies, and accreditation compliance.

WDCW. Daniel Cogan, Ed.D., FAODME provides leadership for the Continuing Health Sciences Education office team of program and education specialists.

His duties include: Directs Continuing Health Sciences Education (CHSE). Administers the accreditation for the School of Medicine’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit and oversees nursing continuing education. Builds relationships with commercial representatives. Oversees the marketing of the CHSE programs. Manages the budget for the CHSE office. Develops policies. Assesses the overall effectiveness of Continuing Health Sciences Education Program. Works with faculty/physicians and the CHSE reference committee to plan, develop, and coordinate CHSE courses linked to the assessment. Serves on curriculum committees of all the CHSE courses. Oversees the CHSE website and online course development. Develops and administers needs assessment tools. Oversees outcome studies. Directs the logistical arrangements for continuing education courses.

Dr. Cogan did his undergraduate and master's degree studies in public school administration at the University of Central Missouri. He then completed his doctoral work at Texas A&M University in 1981 in higher education curriculum and instructional design. Prior to his appointment at UofL Dr. Cogan was Director of Academic Affairs and Accreditation at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has served in various medical education roles including continuing education, postdoctoral training administration and medical student clerkship administration. Dr. Cogan is married to Glenda and they have two children and six grandchildren.
