HVP -- Honors Volunteer Program HVP is an organization that seeks to give Honors Program students opportunities to volunteer for university-sponsored activities, and in the greater Louisville community. Discussions are designed to provide cultural programming, discourse, and resources for faculty, instructors, staff, students, and administrators. The workshops will include teaching strategies, emerging trends in research, stimulating dialogue, and discussions on assessing diversity perceptions within the classroom and throughout campus. The quiz bowl team swept both divisions at the first KCQRL tournament at the University of the Cumberlands. The DI team went 5-0 and defeated Georgetown, Murray State, Cumberlands, EKU, and Ohio University Southern. The DII team went 4-0 and defeated Georgetown, Big Sandy Community College, Henderson Community College, and JCC SW. The team will return to league action in November at Henderson CC, in addition to competing in tournaments at Ohio State and Michigan. D1 team members were Matt Ball, Austin Brownlow, Benjamin Stewart, and Torrence Williams. Summer Study in the United Kingdom The English Speaking Union (ESU) Summer Scholarship applications for study in Great Britain in the summer of 2010 are now available. The scholarship, open to juniors (junior status now with graduation no earlier than May 2010), provides tuition and room and board for one week in London followed by a three-week summer school program for studies in English literature, art history, creative writing, medieval studies, Shakespeare, history, politics and society at Oxford, Cambridge or Edinburgh for the summer of 2010.
