February, 2024Workday FIN focus on Adam Detherage
Adam Detherage is a director of finance on the Health Sciences Campus Center with the Office of Financial Administration.
“I am a graduate of the University of Louisville College of Business and have spent 16 years working for the university in various capacities. My current role is managing funds flow for the Health Sciences Campus Center along with financial reporting and analysis.
My role with Workday is as a member of the steering committee as a second representative for the Health Sciences Campus Center. I have been involved in several design sessions with a focus on customer accounts/accounts receivable functionality within Workday. I am excited to be a part of this endeavor and, seeing the breadth of participation thus far, the university is poised for success.”
Fun questions for Adam:
What is the biggest benefit(s) you see with the Workday Finance Implementation?
This is an opportunity to rethink and reshape how we transact business and manage workflow through the myriad of approval processes our end users navigate each day. Workday Finance gives us the opportunity to build upon the success of our current systems and continue to improve the user experience.
What are you most excited about with the new system?
Reporting! I am looking forward to more department (cost center) level reporting that allows for quick navigation of department-wide financial conditions all the way down to the program level. Marrying budget data, actuals data and payroll data into a single reporting tool would benefit all users and expedite decision-making at all levels of the organization.
Are you current binge-watching any shows?
Not currently, but I can’t wait for the final season of Cobra Kai! I love anything 80s!
If someone is only going to be in Louisville for the weekend, what should they do?
Louisville is a big, little city with lots of options for visitors. I would recommend a ghost tour at Waverly Hills Sanitorium, a visit to the Louisville Slugger Museum or a trip to historic Churchill Downs.
Who is your greatest hero/role model/inspiration?
My father has been a great role model in my life. He taught me to treat everyone, regardless of title or rank, with respect and integrity. My four daughters are my inspiration. They keep me grounded and humble and are my constant reminder to lead by example.
