Campus Talk: Rape Culture in Popular Black Media Thursday January 31 6-8pm, SAC MPR AB In light of the necessary conversation about the "Surviving R. Kelly" docu-series, the Women's Center is partnering with the Women Gender and Sexuality Department and various UofL student organizations for a Campus Talk roundtable discussion about the prevalence of rape culture in popular music and it's industry which silences Women’s voices as an effect. |

Come out for tips, tricks & perspective from local entrepreneurial women on how to become your own boss and be successful in such a historically male dominated space. Food will be provided. |
2nd Annual Grace Hopper Celebration of Women Watch Party Thursday February 7 6-8pm; Doors open 5:30pm, Student Activities Center Multipurpose Room AB Join the party and be empowered by the Keynote speakers of the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference. 9th Annual Human Trafficking Awareness Conference Tuesday February 12 5:30-8:30pm (Doors open at 5:30pm), Student Activities Center Ballroom The University of Louisville Women’s Center and Women 4 Women Student Board hosts this annual conference about this modern-day slavery issue in Louisville with local and national speakers. They encourage students and the public to become involved in efforts to make other people aware of the problem and to help stop it. This year’s conference will focus on the sexual exploitation of youth. |

13th Annual Kentucky Women’s Book Festival Saturday March 2 9:30am - 1:30pm, Brandeis School of Law on University of Louisville Belknap Campus The 13th annual Kentucky Women’s Book Festival featuring, local authors from a wide variety of genres, will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Brandeis School of Law on University of Louisville’s Belknap Campus.Hannah Drake, Emily Bingham, Annette Allen, Julia Royston, Atalya Lawler and Mehwish Zaminkham of the Louisville Story Program, Julie Wade and Flora Schildknecht will present. More details soon. The festival sessions and presentations are free, except for an optional lunch. The festival begins at 9:00 a.m. with coffee and conversation and the opening session begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Brandeis School of Law. Luncheon registration is required. The Women’s Center and the Brandeis School of Law are hosting the event, which is part of the university’s observance of Women’s History Month.
