The U of L Women’s Center & its student groups will celebrate Women’s Equality Day at the Recognized Student Organization (RSO) & Involvement Fairs on Tuesday, August 23 and Wednesday, August 24, SAC West Plaza in front of the Red Barn, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.  Stop by the Women 4 Women, AAUW of Louisville and/or the Student Parent Association tables and pick up Women’s Equality Day buttons, women voter informational material and other items plus on 8/24 learn more about Vote Everywhere (VE) coordinated by the ELSB; and on 8/25, check out the Women’s Center table and the Jefferson Co. Clerk’s Office for voter information, coordinated by the Women’s Center.

Weekly crushes, unrequited love, exam horror stories, grad anxiety—after high school does the drama end? Join a diverse group of college women as they dish about their collegiate experiences, challenges and successes in a conversation with first-year students on how to have a fabulous time at college—combined with wise advice on how to also avoid all-too-common mistakes. Get ready to be empowered.

Clothing Exchange Project for Children Donation Drive

Monday September 12 – Friday October 14

This annual project, coordinated by the Women Center Student Parent Association /Moms Support Group, collects new or gently used infant and children clothing, shoes, toys, toiletries, new bags of disposable diapers.  Call 852-8976 for a list of drop-off locations on the Belknap & Health Sciences campuses.

The Department's of Women's and Gender Studies, Pan African Studies, The LGBT Center, and The Women's Center at the University of Louisville will be hosting a film screening and talkback of "NO! The Rape Documentary," with the award-winning Black feminist lesbian independent documentary filmmaker, published writer, international lecturer, professor, and activist, Aishah Shahidah Simmons!

The Women’s Center is partnering with the School of Medicine for their Alumni Celebration with a talk by Vicky Turner. Vicky Turner, Ph.D. in microbiology& immunology is a Class of 73 UofL graduate. She will be honored at upcoming Alumni Celebration festivities this week.  Vicky will be talking about the variety of opportunities available for women in science and about her journey to success.

This annual Visibility Day is an event to help publicize the group on campus as well as provide networking among student-parents and establish community building and friendships. Clothing, diapers, toys and other items from the clothing exchange project of donations from the campus and community will be given to student-parents on the day of the event . AAUW at UofL Elect Her: Louisville Women Win

Wednesday November 2

A national program to encourage and train college women to run for student government and political office. During this one-day, 4-hour training participants will practice hands-on campaign skills, hear from inspiring speakers and discuss research on women in government. The skills learned in this workshop, like networking and building an elevator speech, will transfer to many leadership roles, not just student government.
