Hands-On Learning for Real-World Improvement
This workshop combines lecture and slide presentations with practical exercises between rounds of simulation. Participants begin by manufacturing circuit boards at Buzz Electronics, a fictional but chaotic traditional manufacturing firm. The outcomes from this initial simulation provide the foundation for learning lean principles.

Deep Dive Into Lean Manufacturing Principles
Participants are introduced to essential lean tools and techniques, including:
- Workplace organization
- Visual controls
- Batch size reduction
- Pull systems
- Set-up reduction
- Quality at the source
All of these tools aim to eliminate the eight wastes in manufacturing processes and drive continuous improvement.
Throughout the workshop, participants complete three simulation rounds, each one building on the last. These interactive exercises give teams the chance to apply lean strategies and evaluate their impact on the fictional company Buzz Electronics — tracking measurable improvements in cost, quality, and efficiency.
