Geoffrey Herd, violin
Violinist Geoffrey Herd leads a varied and impactful career as a soloist and chamber musician, innovative artistic director and dedicated pedagogue. He has performed throughout the United States, Latin America, and Asia at venues such as the Isabel Stewart Gardner Museum of Art in Boston and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as well as at universities and conservatories globally.
Kevin Nordstrom, viola
Dr. Kevin Nordstrom leads a busy career as performer, teacher, and scholar. He has performed in Canada, Italy, Austria, China, and Mexico, and given numerous solo and chamber music recitals throughout the United States. As a chamber musician, he performs regularly with colleagues and as violist in the Aurelian String Trio, which he co-founded in 2019. Dr. Nordstrom has given many presentations for the College Music Society (CMS), as well as clinics for the Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas Music Educators Associations and the American String Teachers Association. His pedagogical and scholarly work has been published in and the Journal of the American Viola Society and the American String Teacher. Dr. Nordstrom is currently Lecturer of Viola at the University of Louisville and the creator, writer, producer, and host of The Great Composer Podcast, found on iTunes and other podcast platforms.
Paul York, Cello and Artistic Director
Paul York has established an international reputation as an exceptional chamber musician and a champion of contemporary music. He is Professor of Cello at the University of Louisville, and during the summers, he is a member of the artist-faculty at Sewanee Music Festival. As soloist, he can be heard on the Centaur, Arizona University Press, Ablaze, and CRS record labels.
Sidney King, Double-Bass
Sidney A. King teaches Double Bass at the University of Louisville and at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival. He has recently retired as the assistant principal bassist of the Louisville Orchestra, having held that position from 1984-2006. As an active soloist and chamber musician, Mr. King performs frequently throughout the U.S
Stephen Mattingly, Guitar and Administrative Director
Dr. Stephen Mattingly – guitarist, has been warmly received by audiences in the United States and Europe as a soloist and as a founding member of the Tantalus Quartet. His performances have aired on television and radio programs across the United States.
