Student published in national magazine
Pittman, a Hopkinsville native, shared his reflections as a University of Louisville summer orientation staffer.
"My primary goal was to affect the experience and lives of the incoming freshman class, helping them in any way possible," he wrote in The NODA Review, a publication of the National Orientation Directors Association.
"While I did accomplish this task to the best of my ability, I feel that the other orientation leaders and I ended up gaining just as much from the experience ourselves," Pittman said.
Pittman, an anthropology major with minors in political science and Asian studies, spent summer 2011 helping guide, advise and orient nearly 2,500 incoming first-year students.
Two other Scholars, oSha Shireman and Evan Shepherd, joined Pittman on the 35-person orientation staff.
