Sophomore McConnell Scholars Natalie Smith and Mary Elizabeth Young organized and played Bingo with residents of Highlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and their families.

Smith and Young organize "family nights" every third Thursday of the month as director and associate director of Programs for the Elderly, a branch of the University of Louisville's Engage Lead Serve Board.

"This is a night when residents and their families–and now UofL students, too–do activities. In addition to Bingo, we plan on adding old movie nights and cookie decorating," Young said.

"Our goal is to engage UofL students in service to the elderly by offering them fun and organized opportunities to do so," Smith said.

Smith, of Elizabethtown, Ky., is studying political science and English at the University of Louisville. Young, of Louisville, Ky., is studying English, Spanish and political science.
