Pair elected to top offices in local Kappa Delta sorority

Juniors Jessica Bagby and Taryn Mahanes, both McConnell Scholars, were installed yesterday as leaders in the Alpha Xi chapter of Kappa Delta. The two were elected Nov. 6 by their sorority members.
Bagby, of Vine Grove, Ky., was elected chapter president. She is an elementary education major at the University of Louisville and serves on the McConnell Center Council as director of recruitment.
Mahanes, of Pewee Valley, Ky., was elected Kappa Delta's vice president of standards. Mahanes helps coordinate events between McConnell Scholars and leaders in the Louisville community. She most recently helped the Center host Mayor Greg Fischer.
Founded nationally in 1897, the Kappa Delta sorority helps raise money and awareness for several organizations including Girl Scouts of America, Prevent Child Abuse America, Children's Hospital in Richmond, Va., and Orthopedic Research Awards.
