Minor in Japanese

The Japanese minor introduces students to the foundations of the Japanese language and Japanese culture, as well as consideration of Japan within historical and global contexts. The Japanese language courses build language skills and help develop communication skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Learning Japanese provides an excellent opportunity to not only add to a student’s language abilities but to also deepen insight into a culture different from their own. Completing a minor in Japanese combined with a student’s major could allow students the opportunity to go on to a variety of jobs such as working within Japanese companies or teaching abroad, and for further study in graduate programs. This minor would give students an academic and professional edge, as well as making them attractive prospects for Japanese companies. 

Program Requirements

At least three (3) semester hours of the requirements for a minor must be successfully completed while enrolled in the University of Louisville.
