Visiting Student Elective Program

Visiting Student Elective Program

Welcome to the University of Louisville
School of Medicine

Thank you for your interest in the University of Louisville clinical elective program and the affiliated teaching hospitals. The visiting student program is very competitive with many applications received each year. With this in mind, please know that we can only enroll a limited number of both Domestic and International students. All electives are four weeks in duration and are available to eligible, qualified students based on clinical capacity levels.

We invite fourth year Domestic students (Allopathic and Osteopathic) and final year International students (Affiliated International Institutions) to apply for a clinical elective rotation. Our clinical elective program accepts applications from schools that are accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or the Education Department of the American Osteopathic Association.

Please visit the appropriate link for more information and application processes regarding each program.  To find out more about our clinical elective course descriptions, search the course bulletin here:

NOTE: We accept applications from participating medical schools, both International and Domestic; however, at this time, we do not accept students from Caribbean off-shore medical schools or U.S. and Canadian citizens with dual citizenship attending medical schools at an International institution.
