Admission to Initial Teacher Certification Programs

In compliance with Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) requirements, as well as Education Admission screening committee guidelines, candidates who plan to apply for admission to teacher education are required to demonstrate:

  • academic ability,
  • critical thinking and communication skills,
  • willingness and/or ability to collaborate,
  • creativity,
  • positive disposition, and
  • commitment to the teaching profession

Candidates must provide test scores, transcripts, writing samples and letters of recommendation which support the candidates' ability to succeed in a rigorous teacher education program. Competitive candidates will be invited to a formal, faculty interview.
