You've Got the Write One

Summer Enrichment Camp

You've Got the Write One

July 15-19, 2019

"You’ve Got the Write One" is an interdisciplinary summer enrichment program. The camp teaching staff is comprised of practicing teachers and pre-service teachers enrolled at the University of Louisville. In order to prepare the teaching staff to work within an integrated environment, a team of teacher leaders meets for two months prior to the camp to develop activities that will introduce participants to the camp theme, content and expectations.

Three days prior to the camp the teaching staff meet to participate in activities designed by the leaders and to develop specific curriculum for their classes. During the one-week camp, students entering grades four through eight work with their teaching team to explore topics and enrichment-based learning activities centered on the camp’s theme. The 2019 theme is “Comic Con.” Students will also participate in other learning activities, which will include a variety of experiences on campus and on Museum Row. At the end of the week, students showcase their work for parents and other interested adults at an open house.

The first Summer Enrichment Camp (previously known as the Summer Portfolio Institute) was held in 1995 and has continued to grow with each passing year. The Summer Enrichment Camp is currently under the direction of Dr. Caroline Sheffield and Dr. Ashley Arnold in the Department of Middle and Secondary Education.
